Cheri is an Canadian artist & poet, originally from Windsor Ontario, the eldest of 8 children of the Yablonsky family. Cheri met her husband Wayne at the University of Windsor, after their graduation in 1971 they were married & moved to Alberta. Wayne designed & built their log home in the rural Edmonton area minutes from Elk Island National Park. It become the Cheri Rose Gallery home/studio featuring her original paintings & poetry. Cheri's vividly detailed images of butterflies, flowers, wildlife & God's children, young & old, reflect the peace, beauty & tranquility of their lakeside country setting. For over 54 years Wayne has been the most dedicated supporter of her art, providing valuable feedback, inspiration, collaborating with her & spending countless hours setting up exhibits of her work, beside her throughout every season.

Cheri is a painter who writes & a writer who paints. Each of her paintings vividly portray a message that speaks to the heart. Her poetry paints word pictures infused with the classic themes of faith, family & love that sustain us throughout the seasons of life. Cheri's poetry has been requested for display in homes, offices and hospitals, read at memorial services and many were engraved by Wayne as “Forget Me Not Heirlooms”. Cheri's art & poetry have been exhibited in numerous galleries, conference centres such as The Dow Centennial Centre Gallery, Festival Place, Leighton Art Centre, The University of Alberta Hospital & at outdoor displays such as Victoria Harbour & Edmonton Art Walk. However her most memorable art events have been when she & her daughter Giselle Denis Fine Artist have painted together at the Fairmont MacDonald Hotel in 2015, 2016 & 2017.

Cheri’s has been interviewed on CBC and ITV and on 100 Huntley Street. Newspaper & magazine articles that have featured her work include the Edmonton Journal, Windsor Star, Sherwood Park News, Alberta Report, Peacemaker (national police publication), the Fort Saskatchewan Record and Living Light News.

Radio host Jana Lapel commented that Cheri was given a voice to speak the language of the heart through her poetry.

In 1976 Cheri taught her first painting and drawing classes at the Edmonton Art Gallery. Over the years she has taught art  through the Edmonton Public School Board and in the classrooms of public and private schools in Strathcona County and at the Sherwood Park Teacher’s Institute. She has been a guest speaker at women’s events sharing the inspiration behind her work.

Cheri's art & poetry have been auctioned to raise funds for numerous organizations, including: Water for People in Canada & the US,  The Mustard Seed, the University Hospital, Northwest Bible College, Sherwood Park Sexual Assault Center, Festival Place Art Centre, Vanguard College, Youth Emergency Shelter, Sarnia Association for Community Living, Cross Cancer Institute & Qualicum Beach Art Centre.
